Olga Xanthopoulos, Lyric Soprano

Greek lyric soprano Olga Xanthopoulou started her studies in opera singing at the State Conservatory and the State Opera school of Thessaloniki, Greece.

She has performed the roles : Lucy from G.C. Menotti’s ‘The Telephone’, Funny from G.Rossini’s ‘La cambiale di matrimonio’ , Serafina from G. Donizzeti’s ‘ Il campanello di notte ‘ Vitellia from W.A. Mozart’s ‘La clemenza di Tito.

In 2004 she performed the role of Despina in W.A. Mozart’s ‘Cosi fan tutte’ in Teatro Mancinelli , in Orvieto , Italy directed by Paolo Micciche. In 2005 with the Opera of Thessaloniki she performed the role of Papagena in W.A. Mozart’s ‘ The magic flute’ and the role of Lenio in B.Martinu’s ‘Greek passion’ . For the role of Lenio the B.Martinu foundation in Prague wrote: ‘Lenio (Olga Xanthopoulou) made a favourable impression with her pleasant singing as well as her acting ‘( Newsletter August 2005).

In February 2008 with the Opera of Thessaloniki she performed the role of Nedda in R. Leoncavallo’s ‘ I Pagliacci ‘ with the very famous Russian tenor Nikolay Baskov. For the role of Nedda the greek newspaper ‘Eleftherotypia’ wrote : Olga Xanthopoulou sang the part with a precise and touching way.( Eleftherotypia Wednesday 2/13/2008)

She has attended masterclasses given by famous artists such as Ghena Dimitrova, Kostas Pashalis, Elisabeth Vidal, Ari Christofeli, Gabriella Ravazzi.

From October 2006 she is in New York styding with the vocal teacher of Julliard school of music Lorraine Nubar, and with the coaches of Metropolitan Opera Steve Crawford and Pierre Vallet.
