Phyllis Fay Farmer, Mezzo
Phyllis Fay Farmer, (AGMA), “beautifully melodious and powerful mezzo soprano” (The Times and Democrat), sings art songs originally composed for unaccompanied flute and voice with the chamber group Philomel’s Song (www.flutemezzo.com). Future performances include recitals at the Andrew Heiskell Library for the Blind and Handicapped, Church of the Transfiguration and the Interchurch Center. From 2006 to 2008, Philomel’s Song has performed at the National Flute Convention, the Dahesh Museum of Art, Queens College, Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Cooperative, several concerts for the New York Public Library, the Brooklyn Heights Branch Library, Cantabile Concerts and St. Peter’s Lutheran Church’s Classical Concert Series. In 2007 she returned to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church for a duet recital of art songs. Phyllis also sings with Music Before 1800 (www.mb1800.org). She is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin.
